Recovery Hero: Ryan Presley
Ryan Presley holds the honor of being our recovery hero of the week, here is his story!
My Name is Ryan Presley and I have been in recovery continuously since September 15th of 2013. I started drinking when I was 18 and immediately had a problem that I was unable to get on top of for over 10 years.
Prior to my current sobriety, I found myself at several very low points. I was stuck in a dead-end job that I was about to lose, my family had grown weary of my behavior, friends had started to leave my life; and I was suffering consequences with my physical and mental health. Alcohol was the only thing that mattered to me. Once I finally made the decision to seek real help, my life improved immeasurably. It has been a very challenging but worthwhile, journey.
While I am very proud of my own accomplishments in sobriety, the thing I am most proud of is seeing others who I work with succeed in sobriety. I am very fortunate to have found my way into the recovery industry for my career. I get to work with other addicts and alcoholics every day and it is amazingly rewarding. Today, I am able to do my small part to support my community by providing safe and structured living for people in early sobriety. I am very grateful for that opportunity to provide resources for folks who really need it, just like I did
