Recovery Hero: Juliette Spenny
My name is Juliette Spenny, I’ve been in recovery for almost 10 months.
Since I have been in recovery, I have maintained employment, began working towards an Associate’s Degree in Medical Billing and Coding, and maintain a 3.58 GPA. Also, I have been house-lead at a sober living home for 6 months, and I have participated in N.A. and therapy.
Before I entered into my recovery, I was in active addiction for 7 years, prior to that I was in prison for vehicular manslaughter due to my addiction. My prison sentence involved getting into an accident which resulted in the death of my mother. My addiction has led to the estrangement of my children, family, and friends.
I am giving back to the community by being the lead of a sober home, and by setting an example to the women who come into the home and sharing my story. To show them that even people like me, who have been in the darkest places, are able to maintain sobriety and once again live as healthy, sober, members of society.
