Skye O’Neill
CPFS, RCP
Skye O’Neill, CPFS, RCP
Skye is a woman in long-term recovery from substance use disorder and childhood trauma. Skye began her recovery in August 2020, with the help and guidance from a “specific to her needs” problem-solving court within the 4th Judicial District. Skye became involved with SRC in 2023 when she was nearing the completion stage of her program. Skye’s probation officer recognized how much helping others came naturally to Ms. O’Neill and urged her to explore the SRC training department and scholarship availability to become a recovery coach. Skye obtained scholarships for all 3 core classes for the Peer Recovery Coach Academy within SRC. It wasn’t until early February 2024 that Skye would land a job at SRC as a justice coach. Within her first 6 months, Skye immersed herself in training, adding 14 extra credentials to her portfolio.
It was around the same time that a position became available for an Outreach coach to work with our CSPD Hot Team officers. Given her unique background with law enforcement, Skye saw this as an opportunity to challenge the stigma and biases that we as individuals living with SUD face every day. Today Skye has been with SRC for a little over a year and during this time, passed the state exam for her CPFS, passed the panel interview for her RCP, and continues to work closely with our unhoused population, offering hope, support, advocacy, and resources by meeting them where they’re at. Skye’s compassion and resiliency are what make her exceptional at her role. She has walked a similar path and therefore can tailor the services provided accordingly.
